The Behaviors are one of the most important features of Character Animator, they can help you create great-looking animation in an easy and fun way.<\/p>\n<p>This time we will look at two Behaviors &#8211; <b>Dragger<\/b> and <b>Dangle<\/b>. If you have followed our last tutorial, right now you may be thinking to yourself- but wait, weren&#8217;t Dragger and Dangle tools?<\/p>\n<p>Yes, there are tools with the same names, but today we are looking at the Behaviors that control them.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In this article:<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. <a href=\"#adobe-character-animator-dragger-tool\">Dragger Tool<\/a><br \/>\n2. <a href=\"#adobe-character-animator-dangle-tool\">Dangle Tool<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To learn about\u00a0Keyboard Triggers and Cycle Layers check out\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/graphicmama.com\/blog\/character-animator-tutorials-behaviors-2\/\">Character Animator Tutorials Part 6: Behaviors 2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"adobe-character-animator-dragger-tool\">1. As you can see here, we have applied this behavior to Vicky&#8217;s arms. Next, <strong>After Move<\/strong> let&#8217;s you choose what the arm should do after being moved. You can make it <strong>return to the rest<\/strong> of the body, or<strong> hold in place<\/strong>. The last setting of the <strong>Dragger tool<\/strong> is the <strong>Return Duration<\/strong>. But having too much time &#8211; 3 seconds, also looks weird. I prefer using 0,5 seconds, but 1 second looks good too. It&#8217;s up to you!<\/p>\n<p>Before we move on let&#8217;s check something else we can do with the <b>Dragger tool<\/b>. That tool is mainly used for controlling the arms but it has other options that can create interesting movements.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 1072px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-11698-3\" width=\"1072\" height=\"752\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070307\/5-vid-03.mp4?_=3\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070307\/5-vid-03.mp4\">https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070307\/5-vid-03.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, by adding a dragger handle on Vicky&#8217;s hips, now we can do this dance-like movement. In combination with the hold in place option for the arms we can create something interesting. I will let you try this on your own and move on to the Dangle behavior.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"adobe-character-animator-dangle-tool\">2. Dangle Tool<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11711 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070554\/5-04.jpg\" alt=\"behaviors tutorial 04\" width=\"1079\" height=\"752\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070554\/5-04.jpg 1079w, https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070554\/5-04-300x209.jpg 300w, https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070554\/5-04-768x535.jpg 768w, https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070554\/5-04-1024x714.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1079px) 100vw, 1079px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Opening the Dangle options we can see, that once again we have the handles used by the behavior shown at<strong> <b>Dangle Handles<\/b>. <\/strong>These are Vicky&#8217;s pigtails. Below that, we have <strong><b>Spring Stiffness<\/b> <\/strong>that indicates how solid the element (using Dangle behavior) is. Right now it&#8217;s set at 100%, let&#8217;s see what happens when we change it.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 1074px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-11698-4\" width=\"1074\" height=\"750\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070911\/5-vid-04.mp4?_=4\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070911\/5-vid-04.mp4\">https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29070911\/5-vid-04.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When the <b>Spring Stiffness<\/b> is at 100% the movement of the pigtails is quite limited, but when we decrease the stiffness to 50% you can see how the pigtails start to wave around more freely.<\/p>\n<p>Next is the <strong>Gravity Strength<\/strong>. It is set at 10% by default but we can increase it and create a different effect. You can see that you can also change the <strong>direction of the gravity<\/strong> with a round slider. This will be fun!<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 1070px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-11698-5\" width=\"1070\" height=\"752\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29071102\/5-vid-05.mp4?_=5\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29071102\/5-vid-05.mp4\">https:\/\/i.graphicmama.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/29071102\/5-vid-05.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When we change the <b>Gravity Strength<\/b> from 10% to 60%, you can see how Vicky&#8217;s pigtails start to seem much <b>heavier<\/b>. Also by changing the <b>direction of the gravity<\/b> we can create the illusion that Vicky is hanging upside down.<\/p>\n<p>The next option is very interesting. If we change the wind direction to vertical up, now Vicky looks like she is falling. And by increasing both <b>Wind Strength<\/b> and <b>Wind Variation <\/b>up to 200% we have now created a real storm. It looks so good and it&#8217;s so easy!<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all for this time!
